Group Customer Ombudsman

Sara Lopes Maia has been the Customer Ombudsman of the Jerónimo Martins Group since January 2022.


She joined Jerónimo Martins in 2005 in the Legal Department of JMR, the company that combines the distribution businesses in Portugal. Later, in 2007, she took the role of lawyer in the Expansion and Real Estate Department, providing legal advice to the real estate area of the Group’s operational companies in Portugal. Between 2019 and 2021, she was a member of the Ethics Committee of the Jerónimo Martins Group.


She has a degree in Law from the Lusíada University of Lisbon, a post-graduate degree in Contract and Consumer Law from the University of Coimbra Law School, completed the Advanced Management Program for Executives at the Catholic University of Lisbon and has an Executive MBA from ISCTE.


“I take the role of Jerónimo Martins Customer Ombudsman with a high sense of responsibility and awareness of the total independence of the position. I intend to exercise my mandate with impartiality and exemption, strengthening the relationship of trust between all the Group’s companies and their customers, as well as contributing to improving the good practices in place.”
